Services During MN ‘Stay at Home’ Order

More days have passed, and more changes continue to come that affect our lives in significant ways. We hear from so many people about how they are struggling, and how the unknown future seems even more daunting. We are thinking of you all, and we are hoping for the best possible outcomes for all of us during these times.

The new executive order, 20-20, from Governor Tim Walz directing Minnesotans to stay at home has many wondering what that means in relation to their healthcare and our office. After personally reading the order, we decided it was best to defer to the Minnesota Chiropractic Association (MCA) as to how it would affect our clinic services. This is the statement from their webpage:

With the Governor’s “stay-at-home” order Doctors of Chiropractic can continue to provide care to their patients… The executive order excepts healthcare and public health workers listed in the CISA Guidance. It is the interpretation of the MCA that chiropractors and chiropractic clinics are included as healthcare providers under the CISA Guidance which lists health care “Caregivers” and “Workers in other medical facilities” that include “Clinics”.

The MCA recommends doctors of chiropractic only see acute, neuromusculoskeletal patients through April 10th. In addition, we recommend you DO NOT see wellness/maintenance patients in your clinic at this time. This is to support Executive Order 20-20 while keeping those who can benefit greatly from chiropractic care out of Urgent Care and/or the Emergency Room.

For our office, this means that we will be open, and we will continue to see our patients. We will follow the MCA recommendations, and we will reschedule any wellness/maintenance visits until the executive order is lifted.

For those that may be wondering what exactly acute neuromusculoskeletal means, it refers to any nerve, muscular, and/or skeletal pain. For our upper cervical focused clinic, an atlas being “out” (subluxated) would qualify under these guidelines. Other conditions that result in pain, numbness, and/or limited range of motion would also qualify. Please let us know if you are in pain and need help.

While being careful to adhere to social distancing and the stay at home guidelines, we also want you to know that you do not have to struggle in pain or discomfort without being able to get help. Sometimes waiting, and letting symptoms worsen, can truly exacerbate problems leading to the need of more frequent care which would not be beneficial for recovery nor trying to stay home during this time.

The changes in our office outlined in the earlier post are still in effect. Extra time is being added between patients to limit interactions in our office. All tables, knobs, pens, and commonly used surfaces are being washed between each patient. For more information and to read the earlier post in its entirety please click here.

We wish you all the best during these trying times. We are seeing people in the community reaching out to help others, kindness between strangers outside while keeping distance, and emails focused on helping our communities as a whole. It really reinforces how we are still in this together.

We chose this career and business because we wanted to be able to help people, and we truly want to help in any way that we can. Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns, or if there is anything we can do to help you get the care that you need.
